Tarik Skubal is already thinking about a Tigers reunion after this season
Skubal spoke on Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take” podcast just days after the Tigers moved the two-time reigning AL Cy Young winner to the Los Angeles Dodgers and said the move still hurts.

He confessed he went into 2026 thinking the Tigers assembled a legitimate World Series contender, and that losing that vision has been tough to absorb.
“I would love to play my whole career in Detroit, and hopefully the negotiations can pick back up in November once the playoffs are done and we’ll see where that goes,” Skubal said. “I’d love to return… so hopefully they’re involved in November.”
After the Tigers dropped out of postseason contention, Detroit traded Skubal for outfielder Zyhir Hope and right-handers River Ryan and Brady Smith.
He’ll be a free agent this winter, and the Tigers have done this before, they trades Jack Flaherty to the Dodgers in 2024, then re-signed him as a free agent last February.
