The Boston Celtics continued their push toward the top of the Eastern Conference with a convincing win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday.

In a matchup of playoff contenders, Boston’s stars delivered when it mattered most.

Brown sets the tone

Jaylen Brown paced the Celtics with 23 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists, showcasing his all-around impact. His energy helped Boston build a commanding 81-55 lead in the third quarter, and his steady play ensured the Cavaliers never fully closed the gap.

Jayson Tatum, in just his second game back from a torn Achilles, added 20 points. He scored 14 in the first half, sparking Boston’s early surge, then chipped in six more in the fourth to seal the win. Though still regaining form, his presence has already reshaped the Celtics’ offense.

Supporting cast steps up

Payton Pritchard provided a crucial spark with 18 points, including a momentum-shifting three-pointer in the fourth. Baylor Scheierman added 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Neemias Queta grabbed 11 boards. Their contributions highlighted Boston’s depth, especially with Nikola Vucevic sidelined following finger surgery.

Cavaliers battle but fall short

Donovan Mitchell returned from injury with 30 points, and Evan Mobley added 24 points and eight rebounds. James Harden chipped in 19 points and 10 assists, but Cleveland’s cold shooting from deep in the first half proved costly. The Cavaliers, who had won seven straight at home, couldn’t overcome Boston’s early dominance.

What’s next?

Boston’s victory trimmed its deficit to three games behind East-leading Detroit, while Cleveland remains in fourth place. With both teams eyeing playoff positioning, Sunday’s clash underscored the intensity of the stretch run.
