Luka Doncis’s Injury: A big Concern for Lakers?

Luka Doncic, a guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, hurt his left hamstring on Thursday night. Coach JJ Redick said the league’s leading scorer would have an MRI.

Redick said that Doncic hurt his hamstring in the first half of the 139-97 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder and got help during the break.

“We checked him out, he got work done, he was cleared,” Redick said.

How it Happened

Luka Doncic played for a short time again. He spun around before trying to shoot over Jalen Williams of Oklahoma City on his last play of the game. Doncic didn’t touch anyone before he stopped and lay down on the floor, moaning in pain. He left the game for good with 7:39 left in the third quarter.

“Those things happen,” Redick said.

Williams, an All-Star in 2025, has missed 27 games this season because he hurt his right hamstring. He felt bad for Doncic.

Williams said, “It’s very, like, spooky to see it happen to him when I’m the one guarding him.”Williams could have taken the ball after Doncic let it go, but he didn’t.

Williams said, “I tried to let it go out of bounds and give them time to figure it out.” “That injury is bad. So I hope he gets better quickly. I hope it’s not something bad.

In five of his last seven games, Luka Doncic had scored at least 40 points. Because Oklahoma City’s defense was so tough, he only scored 12 points on 3-for-10 shooting.

The Lakers were down 90-58 when Doncic got hurt, which made a bad night even worse.
