Rodriguez’s Diagnosis

Rodriguez is under observation because of “a non-sports-related medical issue,” although “the diagnosis is favorable.” This is according to a statement from the Colombia Football Federation dated April 2,

In the context of rumors and information circulating on social media and even in some American newspapers about rhabdomyolysis—rare disease that causes muscle damage when the body is exposed to extreme stress, thus causing severe health problems when toxic muscle tissues enter the blood stream—the Minnesota United, where Rodriguez plays, has clarified the whole situation. There has not been any scientific evidence that Rodriguez suffers from rhabdomyolysis.

The midfielder, who has twice won the UEFA Champions League while playing for Real Madrid and who was on the books at Premier League Everton before he transferred to the MLS club, participated in a “return to activity session supervised by club medical staff” on Monday. His further training regimen will be decided by the club’s medical team.

Rodriguez has only featured in two games since he signed for the MLS club in early February.
