Inter Miami has appointed Cristian ‘Kily’ González as their new head coach to replace Guillermo Hoyos.
González, the Argentine head coach, is taking charge of Inter Miami who are currently without a victory after five consecutive games. In these games, they have lost four and drawn one.

“González will officially assume his duties once he receives the corresponding work permits. Guillermo Hoyos will provisionally continue in charge of the team until the arrival of the new head coach and his coaching staff,” Inter Miami confirmed in a press release.
Prior to joining Inter Miami, González was the head coach at Argentine clubs Rosario Central, Unión (Santa Fe), and Platense.

Inter Miami holds second place in the Eastern Conference table with 39 points in 21 matches.
González began his playing career at Rosario Central in 1993 and transferred to Europe three years later, playing for LaLiga’s Valencia and Zaragoza and Serie A’s Inter Milan.
Club-level success granted him a place in the Argentina national team, alongside Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi in 2005. González and Messi played together in two World Cup qualifiers in 2005, against Peru and Uruguay.
Hoyos assumed the interim manager’s position, replacing Javier Mascherano last April, transferring from his position as Inter Miami’s sporting director. He worked on an interim basis, and after the World Cup, the front office appointed him the permanent manager.
Hoyos had a 6-1-1 record to begin his job, earning 19 points of the 24 possible points with the team scoring 26 goals in eight games. He has achieved the most successful start for an Inter Miami manager with eight matches since the team entered MLS in 2020.
“Inter Miami would like to especially highlight and thank Hoyos for his commitment and full dedication to the Club, demonstrated by his willingness to assume the role during this period, which began last April,” the team said.
Additionally on Thursday, Inter Miami sped up negotiations with Palmeiras and are nearing an agreement which would see attacking midfielder Riquelme Fillipi transfer to Miami, sources told ESPN Brasil.
The deal includes 60% of the rights of the player for a price of about $5.5-$6 million.
