Teenaged Floyd Samba provided the perfect first-team debut, grabbing a brace of goals to help Manchester City get their Carabao Cup title defense off to a flying start with a thumping victory over Norwich City of the Championship.
The son of former Premier League defender Christopher Samba, Samba’s brace helped Manchester City breeze through Norwich City of the second tier of English football to set up a meeting against the Championship side Brighton after their own win over Manchester United on Wednesday.

After being hard-pressed early in the game against the Canaries, the match had looked tough for the home side until Enzo Maresca’s team got themselves into total control within just three minutes by scoring two goals.
Manchester City opened the scoring with a deft header by Samba following a pinpoint delivery by Allan in what was his own first-team debut and the other came courtesy of Rayan Cherki, who kept his cool to finish things off after receiving a good ball from Ayyoub Bouaddi.
Allan made the transition from provider to goal scorer at the beginning of the second half, with his agile feet helping him move the ball to his left foot to put in a shot into the bottom corner, followed by Samba getting the second goal for his delightful effort and Ryan McAidoo getting the fifth one in the last minutes.

While Philippe Clement’s players believed that they got their consolation through the substitute Mohamed Toure’s cool finish through Geronimo Rulli, the goal was chalked off for being offside and helped Rulli earn his first clean sheet in the Argentine league debut.
