On The Bill Simmons Podcast, Bill Simmons strongly hinted that Jayson Tatum could return Friday against Dallas, potentially boosting the surging Boston Celtics after his ACL injury layoff.

The Celtics’ season is trending upward. With consistent performances and growing confidence, Boston is dreaming of another title run. Now, as the team functions smoothly, the front office may unleash its superstar ahead of the playoffs.

Tatum was a cornerstone last season. Unfortunately, he suffered an ACL injury during the playoffs, sidelining him for the entire campaign. Recently, however, insiders have suggested a possible return timeline for the 2024 NBA champion.

Reflecting on the situation, Simmons said during Sunday’s episode, “It feels like it’s gonna be Friday (against) Dallas. All signs are pointing to Friday Dallas.”

The Celtics would certainly welcome his return. Currently, Boston sits second in the Eastern Conference with a 40–20 record, winning four of their last five games. Adding a six‑time All‑Star strengthens their playoff push.

This week, Boston faces four games, including a road matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks. With Jaylen Brown producing triple‑doubles, his reunion with Tatum could form a menacing duo.

Nevertheless, caution remains. While excitement builds, analysts warn against rushing Tatum back. Shams Charania reported that Tatum is now participating in five‑on‑five scrimmages, signaling progress. Yet, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith urged patience.

Smith explained on First Take, “Age 27, and you’ve been to five Conference Finals and two NBA Finals, and you’re a champion. … They got plenty of time.”

As anticipation rises, Celtics fans eagerly await confirmation. If Simmons’ prediction proves correct, Friday’s clash with Dallas could mark the long‑awaited return of Boston’s franchise star.
