Barcelona are leaving nothing to chance in preparing for next season with a massive deal for Newcastle United forward, Anthony Gordon, Yankee Scores has the full details regarding the move.
A deal has been reached between Newcastle United and FC Barcelona for a fee of more than £69m for the acquisition of England forward Anthony Gordon.
Both sides are still negotiating the fee, but the talks have reached an advanced stage.
Catalonia Bound
Discussions went well, and the transfer price is currently over 80m euros (£69.3m).
Gordon will complete the rest of his transfer process and then join his English teammates in a pre-World Cup training session in the USA.
Bayern Munich also tried to get involved in negotiations but couldn’t agree to their valuation range, while Barcelona offered the right price.
In March, Newcastle United CEO David Hopkinson promised that the club would not sell their players but “on our terms.”
This way, Newcastle found themselves in an advantageous position to ask for a premium since Gordon’s contract expires in 2030.
As Gordon heads to Barcelona, Newcastle would have to find a replacement that can bolster the squad that finished 12th last season.
The Everton Windfall Breakdown
There’s a sell-on clause in the previous deal with Everton.
When signing Gordon in 2023 for up to £45m, Everton received a clause entitling them to a 15% share of Newcastle profits on the player.

As predicted by many experts and fans, Gordon was expected to leave Newcastle as soon as possible.
Eddie Howe didn’t include him in the team for the final four Premier League matches.
