Former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has been named head coach at Serie A powerhouse AC Milan, Yankee Scores reports.
A Two-Year San Siro Mission
Amorim has been offered a two-year contract and will take the position after the sacking of Massimiliano Allegri, whose team failed to qualify for the Champions League due to poor form at the end of the season.

It is reported that Amorim has decided not to take the money for the rest of the year which the English club owes him from his previous job there.
Milan are excited about Amorim’s “modern dominant tactical approach”.
“There are ambitions that stay with you throughout your career, and coaching AC Milan has always been one of mine,” said the Portuguese head coach.
“I know exactly what this club means: history, prestige and an extraordinary fanbase around the world. It is a challenge I embrace with pride and enthusiasm.”
Cost of Amorim’s Exit at United
United suggested in February that the departure of Amorim along with his coaching staff could be worth a whopping £15.9 million to the club, per BBC Sport.
It remains to be seen whether the loss will appear in United’s next financial reports, expected in the fall.
Amorim was dismissed following a disastrous spell at Old Trafford, lasting 14 months.
Before his appointment at United, Amorim had gained fame as one of the continent’s top young managers after his success at Sporting, winning the long-awaited league trophy in 2020-21 and defending it in 2023-24.
The Portuguese took the place of Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford in November 2024 after rejecting a request to replace him at the end of the season.
In the previous month, sources close to Amorim denied his interest in the post at his former club, Benfica, as it became clear that Jose Mourinho would soon become manager at Real Madrid. The role was taken up by Marco Silva, who previously coached Fulham.
Amorim’s debut is a friendly game against Celtic on 25 July, but the ironic twist of fate suggests the conclusion of their pre-season tour in Poland on August 15, when the manager leads his new team against his former side, Manchester United.
