Joseph Parker has revealed that he will continue his boxing career “soon” as his suspension was lifted following his failed drug test last year.
Following Parker’s defeat to Fabio Wardley in the 11th round last October, he underwent a routine test for the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA), which detected the presence of cocaine.
Parker had claimed he was not taking anything prohibited and would face up to a two-year ban from the sport, per Skysports.
However, Parker has now come out in a statement indicating that his suspension has been lifted.
General Secretary of the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC), Robert Smith refused to comment when approached by Sky Sports News but stated that the suspension has been lifted.
“I’m pleased to confirm my provisional suspension is lifted and I’ll be back in the ring soon. I’ve been advised to say no more for now while details are finalised. Thank you to all my supporters,” Parker said on Wednesday.
Parker, 34, is a former world champion boxer who lost his title to Anthony Joshua in 2018, though he entered the bout with Wardley in arguably the best condition of his career.
