Katie Taylor’s final week in the professional boxing ranks is proving to be no sweat for her.
Every media event has been attended with the same level of professionalism as the way she has boxed throughout her career spanning more than two decades.
The weather gods in Dublin favored Taylor and her opponent Flora Pili as they weighed in at Trinity College in the lead-up to Saturday’s undisputed light-welterweight fight at the packed Croke Park.
Taylor has never missed weight in her 26-fight career and she wasn’t about to make any exceptions, as she was received by her cheering fans, some of whom have been supporting the Irish legend since she clinched Olympic gold in 2012.
The release of the weights, where both came in slightly under the 10st (63.5kg) limit, was almost insignificant, per BBC Sports.

All 80,000 tickets for Saturday’s undisputed light-welterweight bout have been sold out and the demand for Friday’s weighing ceremony has been equally high.
Taylor’s fans turned out in numbers for the weigh in at Trinity College, founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I and one of Ireland’s most prestigious seats of higher learning.
This is Pili’s big chance, a chance for her to rocket her way to the top level of the fight business, yet an occasion which she had never attended before and looked a little confused when she got on to the scales.
Violinists were playing the Irish folk tune Óró, sé do bheatha ‘bhaile [Óró – you are welcome home] while Taylor made a grand entrance amidst thunderous applause from the crowd and the boxers went through the motions.
