Major League Baseball suspended Mariners left-hander, Gabe Speier for three games and fined him an undisclosed amount
The action was taken after concluding he intentionally threw at Tigers second baseman Gleyber Torres during Wednesday’s 4-2 Seattle win.

Manager Dan Wilson was also suspended for one game and fined for his part in the aftermath, but managers, unlike players, don’t have the opportunity to appeal, thus Wilson served his penalty immediately in Thursday’s series finale against Detroit, per MLB
The incident arose out of a build-up of bad blood during the course of the game. Woo hit three Tigers batters in his start and Cal Raleigh was struck in the stomach by Detroit’s Enmanuel De Jesus in the seventh.
Two innings later, Speier delivered two inside fastballs to Torres, the second one hitting him in the upper thigh at 96.3 mph. Benches and bullpens cleared, but no fists thrown before officials removed both Speier and Wilson.
Speier is appealing the ban through the MLB Players Association, which means the sanction will hold until the process is completed.
