J. Cole training for the CBA

The Grammy‑winning rapper J. Cole is back on the hardwood, but this time the stage is even bigger… Yankee Scores reports

J. Cole Signs With Chinese Basketball Association

Hip‑hop superstar and basketball enthusiast J. Cole has officially signed a contract to play for the Nanjing Monkey Kings in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), according to sources.

This marks the third time the multi‑platinum artist will suit up in a professional league, but now it’s one of the most prominent internationally.

A Journey Across Leagues

Previously, J. Cole played in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) in 2021 and later joined the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) in 2022. Each stint showcased his passion for the game and his willingness to compete at a professional level.

Now, with the CBA move, Cole is stepping into one of the world’s most competitive basketball environments outside the NBA.

Following Through on His Promise

Reports note that J. Cole had committed to playing a few games for the Monkey Kings last year. Now, he follows through, making good on his word and adding another chapter to his unique basketball journey.

Why This Matters

The CBA is widely regarded as one of the strongest leagues globally, producing NBA‑caliber talent and attracting international stars. For J. Cole, this isn’t just a publicity stunt — it’s a continuation of his dual identity as both an artist and athlete.

His involvement also brings fresh attention to the CBA, potentially drawing new fans from the hip‑hop and NBA communities.

What’s Next

While details of his role and expected playing time remain limited, one thing is clear: J. Cole’s basketball career is no longer a side note. It’s becoming a legitimate storyline in the global hoops conversation.

As ESPN put it, “The multi‑time Grammy award‑winning and multi‑platinum artist had committed to playing a few games for the Chinese team last year, and now follows through.”
