Lando Norris took his first win of the 2026 Formula 1 season in a thrilling Hungarian Grand Prix, giving McLaren their first win of the campaign at the Hungaroring, Yankee scores reports

Starting from pole, Norris was quickly challenged by teammate Oscar Piastri who temporarily surged ahead throughout the opening stages.
Norris, however, remained cool and finally took control of the race as McLaren’s two drivers battled for supremacy.
Piastri’s afternoon came to an end after a run-in with Williams driver Carlos Sainz, which changed the race dramatically, before a gearbox failure ended the Australian’s race
His departure left McLaren with just Lando flying the flag and the reigning world champion calmly drove to the win.
Max Verstappen was second for Red Bull with 15.080 seconds behind Norris, and Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli rounding out the podium in third, per Formula 1
Antonelli’s win also further consolidated his position at the top of the drivers’ championship standings.
Charles Leclerc was fourth for Ferrari with teammate Lewis Hamilton fifth following a challenging afternoon.
Ferrari’s displeasure had already been heightened by a late strategy call during a virtual safety car period, and Hamilton was then handed a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane.
Norris’ win brings an end to his wait for a Grand Prix victory this season and gives McLaren a huge lift moving into the mid-season break.
