After many ups and downs, Clowney had a big bounce-back year with the Dallas Cowboys, racking up 8.5 sacks after not making his season debut until Week 4.
That run finished with a career-high three-sack performance against the Giants in Week 18.
Clowney’s agreement is said to have a $5.5 million base salary with incentives that may bring it to $8 million.
He joins a Houston defensive front that also includes Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter, giving the Texans one of the deepest pass-rush rotations in the league as they aim to return to the postseason.
“It was a family decision and more about chasing a championship than the money,” Clowney said, according to ESPN
Clowney has 66.5 sacks, 120 tackles for loss and 16 forced fumbles in 12 NFL seasons.
