Von Miller is returning to Texas after agreeing to a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

It’s being billed as a homecoming story, the DeSoto High and Texas A&M product finally playing for his hometown team. But take away the sentiment, and the question is, does a 37-year-old situational rusher move the needle for a defense that really needs one?
The Numbers Behind The Hype
According to CBS Sports, Dallas ranked 26th in the league in sack rate last season and gave up more passing yards than any team.
That is the trouble Miller is walking into. He’s not an every-down player anymore, he started just three games for Washington last year but he still put up nine sacks off the bench, his best total since 2018.
It’s his fifth team in six seasons, proof that even future Hall of Famers become rotational pieces eventually.
But also, the cowboys don’t need Miller to do this all by himself. He will rotate with Rashan Gary, Donovan Ezeiruaku and rookie Malachi Lawrence.
Either way, everyone is looking forward to seeing whether his addition will be enough to turn around one of the league’s worst pass
