In a bid to shore up their defensive front, the Bears have acquired All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans.
In return for Simmons and a 2028 fifth-rounder, the Bears (5-2) will send the Titans (1-6) 2027 and 2028 first-rounders and a 2027 fourth-rounder.
Simmons is the first defensive tackle in the common draft era (since 1967) to be traded for multiple first-round draft choices, according to ESPN Research.
Simmons, 29, has spent his entire NFL career with the Titans after being a first-round pick in 2019. Simmons has 46.5 sacks, 72 tackles for loss and 96 quarterback hits in eight seasons.
Last season he was a first-team All-Pro and had a career-high 11 sacks.
In September, Simmons was voted team captain of the Titans for a sixth straight season. He has led the team through seven games this season with four sacks, six tackles for loss and four passes defended.
The Titans and Simmons signed a three-year $105.8 million extension (with $100 million guaranteed) before the start of the season, putting him under contract through the 2030 season. But after Tennessee struggled to a 1-6 start, Simmons’ name was mentioned in trade talks leading up to the Nov. 10 deadline.
D’Andre Swift Agrees to 3-Year Extension
Yankeescores reported the 3-Year Extension of D’Andre Swift before Bears’ Season Opener in Carolina.
Running back D’ Andre Swift reached an agreement on a three-year, $33.75 million contract extension that includes $27.5 million guaranteed, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He is now under contract through the 2029 season.
This is Swift’s second contract with Chicago. He initially signed a three-year, $24 million deal with the Bears as a free agent in 2024 — one month before the Bears drafted quarterback Caleb Williams — and was set to enter a contract year in 2026.
