The Jacksonville Jaguars’ most important offensive storyline this offseason has nothing to do with a trade or signing, it’s Trevor Lawrence and BTJ putting in the work to build chemistry this offseason, Yankee Scores reports…
The journey from Record-Breaker to Question Mark.
Thomas was electric as a rookie in 2024, with 87 catches, 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns, all of which are franchise records. He appeared to be the main man for Jacksonville’s offense for the next 10 years.
Then 2025 happened. Forty-eight catches. 707 yards. Two touchdowns. The trade speculations came right after.

Coen Calls It What It Was
Head coach Liam Coen wasn’t afraid to get to the point.
“We’re being a little more purposeful with him this spring, trying to get a real connection with him that we didn’t have last spring or last training camp,” he said.
That’s a coach saying that the base was shaky from the beginning. Not a talent problem. A connection problem.
The Work That Is Going on Behind the Scenes
Both players have been working over time before and after practice and Thomas has been clear about what that entails.
Thomas said “Talking through routes, seeing how I see it, how he sees it, seeing how his footwork times out, the little things that are going to make us better throughout the season”
The two had several connections at a recent OTA session, including a deep touchdown pass. Lawrence was impressed.

“We’ve put a lot of work in all spring, and it’s starting to pay off,” Lawrence said. “It doesn’t always happen immediately. Sometimes it takes a little time.”
What’s at Stake
Jacksonville doesn’t need Thomas to just be productive. They want him to be the field-tilting No. 1 receiver he was as a rookie and they want Lawrence to trust him in tight windows.
Thomas is tuning out the noise. Lawrence is supporting him openly and Coen has made it a priority.
