At 41 years old and on the cusp of a historic, record-shattering sixth World Cup appearance, Cristiano Ronaldo is not here for your narrative, Yankee Scores reports.

Cristiano Ronaldo says he is ready, has plenty of confidence, and cannot wait to start his sixth World Cup appearance.

The 41-year-old Portuguese forward participated in all matches leading up to the competition but failed to score in either.

While answering questions about his physical readiness before Portugal departs to the United States on Friday, Ronaldo stated, “Physically? I’m fine — have you not seen my matches?”

“It has been good but tiring because we’ve worked hard,” he said.

“We’ve had the upper hand in our matches, but what matters most is when the ball starts rolling on the 17th, in the first game, and then when the pressure really starts to mount — that’s when we’ll see the true champions.”

Ronaldo holds the records for most games played (227) and most goals scored (143) for any men’s national team.

Ronaldo wants the one trophy that is eluding him so far in his illustrious career.

When asked if Portugal have any chance of winning the World Cup, Ronaldo replied: “We’ll find out in the end.”

“We’re really looking forward to it; we know the World Cup is always a special tournament, just like the European Championship, so we’re heading there full of hope.”

Portugal have not won the World Cup and their best attempt was in 1966, where they ended up in the third place. Portugal have a relatively strong team in this tournament. The Portuguese team captain Bruno Fernandes had an incredible season at Manchester United.

He set a new all-time record of being the top assist provider (21 assists) in a single Premier League season.
