The Los Angeles Rams are looking to get wide receiver Puka Nacua back for Week 4 after coach Sean McVay said he was dealing with soreness in his groin.
McVay said Nacua will be listed as doubtful to play Sunday night against the Denver Broncos and will sit out Friday’s practice.
Nacua has not played since Sept. 17. He was on the injury report with a hip injury the next day and did not play in Monday’s win over the New York Giants, per ESPN.
“If he doesn’t go this week, the expectations are, unless there’s a setback, that he’ll be good for next week,” McVay said.
Week 4: The Rams at the Eagles in Philadelphia.
McVay said there is no thought of putting Nacua on injured reserve, which would require missing at least four more games. McVay said earlier this week the Rams are being cautious with Nacua because of the position he plays.
“When you’re a skill player and you’re really trying to hit high-speed yards and really open up and you feel just … it’s like some of the things that can almost be like pre-hernia is kind of what he’s feeling,” McVay said Wednesday.
McVay has said Nacua’s injury isn’t connected to the psoas injury that cost him time in August.
