Declan Rice dragged Arsenal level late on to earn a 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich in a lively Champions League league-phase clash, but the night had a sour note for Arsenal when Bukayo Saka limped off after only 10 minutes with a suspected thigh problem. It happened as he tried to play a pass with nobody around him.
His replacement, Eberechi Eze, made an instant impact. In the 35th minute he latched onto a superb pass from Martin Ødegaard to score the opener, though the VAR had to step in after the England man was first flagged offside.

Bayern didn’t stay behind for long, just 10 minutes. Harry Kane collected the ball in midfield and threaded a pinpoint pass through the Arsenal back line for Alphonso Davies to finish. Kane, who had been producing eye-catching passes all night, then put the visitors in front from the penalty spot after his shot struck Jurriën Timber’s hand inside the area. He sent David Raya the wrong way from 12 yards, and it looked like the turnaround was complete.

Bayern piled on the pressure looking for a third, but Arsenal held firm. Then Rice swapped passes with substitute Viktor Gyökeres and drilled a low shot into the bottom corner to make it 2-2. The Gunners went looking for a winner, and Timber forced Manuel Neuer into an acrobatic save before the final whistle.
