One of the most deeply human moments of the World Cup far away from the pitch came from Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr., Yankee Scores reports.

The Brazilian star was visibly emotional during an appearance on the Domingao com Huck show after receiving a surprise message from his grandmother Nilza who remains the most influential figure from his childhood and an anchor throughout his career.

Vinícius Junior se emociona con el mensaje de su abuela: “Viví hasta los 16 años con ella”

“The house was tiny and I slept next to her for so many nights. I am honestly speechless. She marked my life forever. I know the moment will come when people pass away so I try to cherish every single second with her” he confessed showing an acute awareness that football is temporary but family remains permanent.

“They did everything humanly possible so I could achieve my dream. Seeing her happy is absolutely priceless” he stated.

World Cup Performance and Leadership

Aside from his personal story, Vinicius Jr. spoke about the expectations of winning the sixth World Cup trophy for Brazil and the pressure that comes with it, per Marca.

With four goals in three matches at the ongoing World Cup, Vinicius Jr. is living up to expectations in North America.

“This is a generation that fights incredibly hard to put Brazil back at the very top. The sixth star is taking way too long to arrive. We have learned a lot over these past few years.”

“These conquests outside the football pitch are much more important than the ones I achieve inside it” — Vinicius Jr.

“I have a seven-year-old brother and I desperately hope he never has to experience racism” — Vinicius Jr.

Harmonious Dressing Room Under Ancelotti

The forward lavished praise on national team boss Carlo Ancelotti, saying the improved atmosphere in the dressing room was thanks to the Italian.

He thanked the Italian coach for giving him the freedom and tactical balance to combine youth and experience. Icons such as Neymar, Casemiro and Marquinhos keep the group together but also push forward emerging talents such as Endrick and Rayan.

Right in the middle of it all is Vini who has gone from bright prospect to undisputed leader of the team.
