The drought is finally over, but the danger remains. Yankee Scores breaks down a day of pure survival drama and the injuries that could define Spurs’ final four matches.

Contents
  • The “YouTube Effect” and De Zerbi’s First Win
    • Improved performance against relegated Wolves

Joao Palhinha’s late strike snapped Tottenham’s 15-game winless run but failed to ease their relegation fears.

Back to Winning Ways

It is also the first win for Spurs since December.

West Ham’s 2-1 win over Everton did not do Spurs any favors. They are still third from bottom with two points from safety.

With four games left, Spurs need West Ham or Nottingham Forest to drop points while they go on a winning spree.

The win over already-relegated Wolves may be the easiest for Spurs, with Aston Villa, Leeds United, Spurs, and Everton next in line.

The “YouTube Effect” and De Zerbi’s First Win

De Zerbi may have earned his first win in the third attempt, but the battle is not yet over.

Before the Wolves’ clash, the Tottenham boss, Roberto De Zerbi, had turned to YouTube in an attempt to lift the morale and confidence of his relegation-threatened team.

Improved performance against relegated Wolves

Obviously, Spurs were the better side against Wolves. Their show of more hunger can be attributed to their determination to survive while Wolves situation can be likened to someone who is down and fears no fall.

Roberto de Zerbi’s side looked like climbing out of the drop zone after substitute Palhinha prodded in from close range at already relegated Wolves only for Callum Wilson’s strike to earn the Hammers an injury-time victory in their match.

The drama was not restricted to the London Stadium as Antonin Kinsky produced a brilliant last-gasp save to keep out Joao Gomes’ free kick.

Spurs, who are trying to avoid a first top flight relegation since 1977, also lost Dominic Solanke and Xavi Simons to injury.
