Arsenal continued their 100 percent record with a 2-0 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
The Gunners have David Raya and Bruno Guimarães to thank for the hard-fought victory.
At the 55th-minute mark, Arsenal defender Ezri Konsa was penalised for a foul on Dan Ballard inside the box. However, Raya brilliantly rose to the occasion by diving low to save Le Fée’s penalty.
Midfielder Guimarães came on as a half-time substitute and found the net in style by curling a strike off the crossbar from outside the box.
The goal was not just another one for the summer signing since it was scored against Sunderland, the arch-enemies of his former team Newcastle United.
The three points were secured in the dying moments of the match as Bukayo Saka found the net from the penalty spot and left defender Reinildo Mandava with a red card after a foul on the Arsenal player.
The win helped Mikel Arteta’s team continue their streak of wins, with a 100% record of six wins from six matches in all competitions, including four Premier League victories to place them at the top of the table.
However, despite having 66% of the possession in the first half, Arsenal up to that point have found their scoring opportunities greatly restricted by the solid defense put out by Regis le Bris’ Sunderland.
Some of their scoring opportunities before the break include a shot by Kai Havertz which went over the bar from just six yards out, followed by a shot by the German forward being saved by the goalkeeper of the home team, Robin Roefs.
Ballard denied Havertz with an impressive clearance off the line for Arsenal, and Timber managed to score for Arsenal, although he was deemed offside.
Sunderland have four points in their four games to date, ranking them 14th in the league.
