Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes’s home was burgled while he was on club duty in Italy on Wednesday.
United lost 4-1 to Italian side Como, and Fernandes has been grabbing the headlines for criticizing Michael Carrick’s tactics, which made them press less against an Italian side that ran rampant.
However, the Portugal midfielder remains United captain, and no punishment will be meted out for his scathing criticism.
BBC Sport reported that the house was burgled while no one was at home in Cheshire. The police arrived, but the intruders had already left.
The Red Devils are giving their captain the necessary support.
In recent years, there has been a rising number of burglary cases in Manchester.
Manchester City defender Rúben Dias and his former girlfriend Maya Jama also had their Cheshire home burgled in similar circumstances to Fernandes. Dias was at City’s Champions League game against Galatasaray when his home was targeted in January.
Other footballers in the same area have been hit before, among them Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling, and Riyad Mahrez.
Portugal midfielder Fernandes joined Manchester United from Sporting in January 2020.
