Neymar missed the Seleção’s first official training session in Teresópolis and was rushed to a local clinic for an emergency MRI alongside Dr. Rodrigo Lasmar, Yankee Scores reports…
Brazil forward Neymar did not attend the national team’s first training in preparation for the World Cup on Wednesday.
His absence was due to further medical evaluations regarding his bruised right leg, according to a statement from the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
Further Medical Evaluations
In a separate report, the CBF medical department clarified that there would be additional tests to identify the actual injury sustained by Neymar, who hasn’t been playing since May 17 when he sustained the injury in his Santos’ 1-0 loss to Coritiba in Brasileirão.
According to ESPN Brasil, Neymar received additional treatment at a local hospital accompanied by the head of Brazil’s medical staff Rodrigo Lasmar where the player had to go through an MRI.
Before that, on Wednesday morning Neymar attended the team’s practice together with the rest of the squad at the training facility of five-time world champions located in the city of Teresópolis, which is situated near Rio de Janeiro.
“What Problem?”
However, based on the results of all these medical tests, Neymar is highly unlikely to participate in the upcoming friendly match against Panama to be held on Sunday in Brasilia.
On Tuesday, after watching Santos defeat Ecuadorian side Deportivo Cuenca 3-0 in the Copa Sudamericana tournament Neymar made light of his injury by simply saying “What problem?”
Roster Depletion Ahead of the Flight
Danilo, the right back of the squad was absent from Wednesday’s practice too. It was announced that he played 90 minutes of the match against Cusco earlier this week in Copa Libertadores group stage round.
Apart from Danilo, Marquinhos from Paris Saint-Germain and Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhães from Arsenal, who were not attending the practice due to participating in Champions League Final scheduled for this Saturday in Budapest, are also members of the squad that will participate in the upcoming competition in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Next warm-up match for Brazil is scheduled for June 5 against Egypt.
