Atletico Madrid have taken a dig at the Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho who accused referees of poor officiating in Sunday’s Madrid derby.
The Portuguese manager took issue with the officiating and insisted the reporters assembled there study the enlarged pictures before he would explain his position.
He kept the receipts and the meaning was clear enough: Real Madrid may have lost the derby, but it was the officials who decided how the game was to be played.
On Monday, Atletico Madrid posted on their X account a sheet of paper printed from a printer showing Mourinho’s picture at the press conference and the message – “stop referee harassment now” at the bottom.

Simeone’s men tend to use their social media to answer back to their rival teams, posting time and again on X in the current summer season to insult Barcelona regarding their interest in the team’s star player, Julian Alvarez.
Besides Mourinho’s post-match allegations, the match report posted on Real’s website claimed that the derby match had been lost owing to “awful refereeing,” excluding Ortiz Arias.
Mourinho said after the match: “We can skip the press conference because the story of the match is right here,” Mourinho said as he showed the assembled media the printed images.
