Baltimore Ravens’ All Pro Rusher Undergoes Surgery

Nnamdi Madubuike

Baltimore’s defense struggled last season, but hope is on the horizon. Nnamdi Madubuike’s recovery could change everything for the Ravens, according to Yankee Scores reports.

Impact of His Absence

Nnamdi Madubuike suffered a neck injury in week 2 of the NFL 2025 season. Without Madubuike, the Ravens’ pass rush collapsed. The team dropped from 54 sacks in 2024 to just 30 in 2025, their lowest total in 15 years. Kyle Van Noy, who thrived with 12.5 sacks in 2024, managed only two last season without Madubuike drawing double‑teams.

Surgery and Optimism

Madubuike underwent neck surgery last week, and doctors believe he can resume playing this upcoming season. At 28, the two‑time Pro Bowler remains Baltimore’s most disruptive interior lineman. His return would ease pressure on the front office to draft a defensive tackle early.

Signs of Progress

Madubuike has been active in offseason workouts, with coaches praising his conditioning and effort. His social media posts hinted at good news earlier this year, and teammates have expressed confidence in his return. The extension of his career now looks far more likely than it did months ago.

Why He Matters

From 2023 until his injury, Madubuike recorded 21.5 sacks, the most by any defensive tackle in the NFL during that span. His 69 quarterback hits since 2020 lead the Ravens. Simply put, he changes games by collapsing pockets and forcing offenses to adjust.

Looking Ahead

The Ravens begin the draft Thursday, but Madubuike’s recovery shifts priorities. With him back, Baltimore can focus on building around Lamar Jackson rather than scrambling for defensive reinforcements. If Madubuike returns to form, the Ravens’ defense could regain its bite in 2026.
