A collage of Mo Salah and Wayne Rooney

Citing his own infamous fallout with Sir Alex Ferguson, Rooney says Slot needs to lay down the law. Is this a disrespectful end to a legendary 257-goal career, or did Salah cross the line? Yankee Scores has the explosive breakdown!

Former Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney has called on Arne Slot to drop Mohamed Salah from the last game of the season following his comments criticizing the Dutch style of football.

Call for Heavy Metal Football

Salah had asked for Liverpool to return to heavy metal football following a 4-2 loss to Aston Villa, which has left their Champions League place in doubt.

The heavy metal football under Jurgen Klopp delivered 8 trophies for Liverpool, including a Premier League title and a Champions League title.

“That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good. It cannot be negotiable and everyone that joins this club should adapt to it,” This comment from Salah that has been seen as a subtle dig aimed at Slot.

Rooney Comes Hard on Salah

Rooney believes Salah is not fit for the heavy-metal football he’s clamoring for.

“He wants to play heavy metal football, so he’s basically saying he wants Jurgen Klopp football. Now I don’t think Mo Salah can cope with that type of football anymore. I think his legs have gone to play at that high tempo and high intensity.

The Ferguson Precedent

“If I was Arne Slot, I’d have him nowhere near the stadium in the last game. I had it with Alex Ferguson. I had a disagreement and fall out and at Alex Ferguson’s last game at Old Trafford, he left me out of the squad for that reason.

“He’s almost just dropped the grenade and said he doesn’t trust and believe in Arne Slot and almost thrown his teammates who are going to be there next season and let them have to deal with that as well and put them into a position.”

Liverpool will face Brentford at Anfield, a game that would serve as a farewell for Salah, who is leaving the Reds after scoring 257 goals.
