From 6-3, 6-2,5-1 ahead, world No 1 Jannik Sinner suffers a stunning five-set defeat to Juan Manuel Cerundolo, Yankee Scores reports.
Jannik Sinner has been knocked out of the French Open after suffering from cramp when serving for match point during his second-round battle against Juan Manuel Cerundolo.
French Open favorite and world No 1 was struggling during the third set, losing 15 points in a row before requesting a medical timeout in the game.
The Italian was 5-1 up in the third set when the courtside mics captured Sinner saying he felt nauseous as he lost his match point opportunity down 0-40. He went ahead to lose the next six games before and after the medical timeout to lose the set 7-5.
Sinner was broken twice in the fourth set, before the final set saw Cerundolo break away, winning the decider 6-1.

Sinner was the overwhelming favorite going into the second Grand Slam of the season, especially with two time reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz out due to injury. Sinner went into this match on a 30-match winning streak stretching back from February.
He tried to cool himself with bags of ice around his neck on multiple occasions, but it did not help, as he was in apparent exhaustion and was hardly running for shots as the match wore on.
“I didn’t feel very well on court,” Sinner said afterwards. “I struggled, starting to feel very dizzy, very low on energy.
“I tried to serve it out but didn’t have a lot of energy. In the fourth set, I let it go a little bit trying to have a bit more energy in the fifth. The first one was a very important game and I couldn’t hold. Then it went a bit downwards.
“I woke up this morning, didn’t feel very well and tried to keep the points very short. Also in the beginning I was hitting very clean, very good, and then I just kind of hit the wall, and that’s it.
“The middle of the third set, even though I was playing some great tennis, but I really couldn’t find any energy today.
“It was a tough spot to be in. But, again, this is the sport. It was warm but not crazy warm. I feel like it was quite okay to play. Really it was nothing against the heat, nothing against the weather. It was just me today, but it happens.
