American boxer, Jake Paul, has vowed to avoid fighting heavyweights again after his brutal defeat to former two-time unified heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, left him with a broken jaw that required multiple surgeries.

Paul, who fights naturally in the cruiserweight division, was knocked out in the sixth round by Joshua at the Kaseya Center in Miami on December 19, in a bout that saw him dropped four times before referee, Christopher Young, halted proceedings 1:31 into the round.
Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Paul said the experience had convinced him that stepping into the ring with an elite heavyweight was not a challenge he intends to repeat.
“I just probably will not fight Olympic gold medal heavyweights anymore. I learned my lesson. I am definitely still fighting. I am getting back to it, keep on fighting, maybe do some MMA,” Paul said.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer confirmed via Instagram shortly after the fight that his jaw had been fractured in two places, requiring surgery and the insertion of titanium plates, along with the removal of several teeth.
He subsequently spent months away from training while his recovery was monitored, with doctors needing to determine how well the fracture had healed before clearing him to return.
