Jones shared the update on Monday on The Pat McAfee Show and said he expects to be back in full-team, 11-on-11 exercises when the Colts open practice Wednesday, per ESPN
“I feel good,” Jones remarked. “We start practice Wednesday and the plan is to get back to 11-on-11, full-team drills. I’ll be out there with the guys. I’m excited to get back rolling.”
The breakthrough is a crucial milestone in Jones’ recuperation after he suffered the season-ending injury to his right Achilles in December. During organized team practices he was relegated to individual drills before moving on to 7-on-7 work during minicamp.
Colts coach Shane Steichen said he is certain Jones will be a full participant in training camp as well.
The Colts are depending on Jones after a hot start to the 2025 season. In 13 games before his injury, he threw for 3,101 yards, 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions while also scoring five rushing touchdowns.
Indianapolis inked Jones to a two-year, $88 million contract extension in March, and that only solidified the team’s commitment to him as its starting quarterback.
It’s a good sign that he’s been cleared, but Jones will get his first real test of his recovery and his ability to get back to his pre-injury form when training camp begins.
