Jalon Walker, a first-round pick for the Falcons a year ago, was taken off the practice field on Tuesday with an apparent lower-leg injury.

The injury is still being evaluated and no more information have been published. The team has not released an official statement on Walker’s situation and there’s been no indication of an MRI or schedule for return.

Walker, the 15th overall pick out of Georgia and the reigning Butkus Award winner, battled a host of soft-tissue problems throughout his rookie season, including a groin injury and a quad condition that hindered him down the line.
Despite the interruptions, he still finished second on the team in sacks and became one of the building blocks of the team
Atlanta was banking on a healthier, more consistent Walker in his second season, partnering him with fellow rookie edge rusher James Pearce Jr. to spearhead the defense.
