Phoenix Suns’ Dillon Brooks agreed to terms of a three-year, $73 million contract extension through 2029-30, per agent Mike George of Klutch Sports.

Credited with helping create the new culture in Phoenix, Brooks has enjoyed his best season after nine years of playing in the NBA.

With career-high averages of 20.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists, Brooks is part of a surprising playoff team that compiled a 45-win record and kept its continuity over the offseason.

Apart from securing Brooks, the Suns also inked Collin Gillespie, Mark Williams, and Jordan Goodwin to multiyear deals and added Miles Bridges and Luke Kennard.

Highlighting Brooks’ Career Year in Phoenix

Brooks has become an integral component of the Suns’ two-way, tough-nosed culture since head coach Jordan Ott took control of the team and earned himself a new guaranteed long-term deal.

Suns CEO Josh Bartelstein and general manager Brian Gregory discussed with George over recent weeks on a deal that would see Brooks remain in Phoenix and avoid being a free agent in 2027.

It has been Suns owner Mat Ishbia’s goal to make sure the team pays the luxury tax again and retains the roster — along with the additions — and grows into the next season.

Ishbia has been clear about his intentions in January when it comes to Brooks. After seeing a post on X about trading Brooks to the Los Angeles Lakers for Austin Reaves, Ishbia commented, “Don’t bother calling… Suns aren’t interested. Dillon’s not going anywhere.”

Last offseason, Brooks was acquired from the Houston Rockets as part of the Kevin Durant trade deal.

Brooks, who is now 30 years old, saw action in 56 games but was injured for 18 games due to a fractured left hand suffered against the Orlando Magic in February. Brooks came back in action on March 31 and became one of the key performers in the playoffs, with average game numbers of 26 points and shooting 43.8% from behind the arc, as the Suns lost in the first round of the playoffs, sweeping 4-0 by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Playoff participant for five seasons in six years, Brooks enjoys the agitator role on the defensive end of the floor. The improvement of Phoenix’s defense to ninth from 27th in 2024-25 last season can be attributed to Brooks’ performances as the Suns’ main wing defender.
