The Suns had apparently been interested in Bridges for quite some time, hoping to add paint presence and scoring to their frontcourt.
The Suns now adds Bridges to a group that already includes Devin Booker, Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks, giving them four players who averaged north of 17 points per game last season.
Bridges was the 12th overall pick by Charlotte in 2018 and played his whole career with the Hornets, averaging 15.9 points and 6.1 rebounds in 501 appearances.
For Charlotte, the returns address immediate roster requirements in the wake of the recent LaMelo Ball deal.
Allen had career highs last season with Phoenix, averaging 16.5 points, 3.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

He’s also a career 40% shooter from three-point range, while O’Neale has hit 38% of his shots from downtown.
O’Neale started in 67 of the Suns’ 78 games last season and averaged 9.8 points and 4.8 rebounds.
With Bridges out, Naz Reid is anticipated to step right into the starting frontcourt with Moussa Diabate for Charlotte.
From the Suns’ standpoint, the trade provides Phoenix around $20 million in tax savings, plus a roster space, before free agency opens June 30.
The franchise continues its rebuild around Brandon Miller with established players on contract for the next two seasons.
