A social media spat between two former teammates escalated into a real life scuffle over the weekend and the repercussions could carry over for both players into the new NBA season.
The Incident
Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro were engaged in a physical fight at a practice court inside a Las Vegas hotel Friday morning, with Adebayo striking Herro in the head region, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The incident apparently took place inside the gym at Resorts World Casino, in front of an AAU team that Herro runs.
Several witnesses reported Herro muttered something to Adebayo as he stepped onto the court and Adebayo responded by coming over and striking him.
Herro’s AAU coach intervened and security pulled Herro out as he yelled at his ex-teammate.
Police were not contacted and both players departed the site

What started it
The core of the tension goes back to social media.
Screenshots circulating online appeared to show Herro critiquing Adebayo’s defensive effort relative to his three-year, $166 million deal, signed with Miami in 2024.
The comments came after Herro was moved to Milwaukee last month in the blockbuster transaction that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Heat.
Silence From Both Sides
Herro, who was in Vegas for Friday’s Heat-Bucks Summer League showdown at Thomas & Mack Center, declined to address the situation directly.
“My only comment is no comment,” he stated. Earlier in the day, before news of the brawl broke, he’d told Prime Video, “It’s all love in Miami.”
The Heat issued a brief statement saying they’re “aware and not commenting.”
The Bucks also declined to comment, as head coach Taylor Jenkins told SiriusXM NBA Radio he didn’t “know all the specifics.”
As of Friday night, there has been no disciplinary action declared by the NBA or either organization.
