Mike Vrabel to miss the third day of NFL Draft Night

Yankee Scores reports that New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has acknowledged “difficult conversations” with family, staff, and players following the publication of photos with NFL reporter Dianna Russini at an Arizona resort.

Vrabel Seeks Counseling

On Wednesday night, Vrabel revealed he is seeking counseling and will not be with the team for Day 3 of the NFL Draft. He explained that the decision was made to ensure he could give his family, the organization, and his players “the best version” of himself. Vrabel admitted the move was not easy but said it was necessary to become a better husband, father, and coach.

Fallout From the Photos

The photos, taken in Sedona before the NFL owners’ meetings in Phoenix, were published earlier this month by the New York Post. Both Vrabel and Russini, who are married, downplayed the images in written statements. However, Russini resigned from The Athletic less than a week later after the outlet launched an internal investigation.

Addressing the Team

Vrabel spoke to Patriots players at the start of voluntary workouts, emphasizing that he did not want the attention surrounding the photos to distract from football or the upcoming draft. He told reporters that any conversations with team officials would remain private but stressed the importance of actions not negatively affecting the team.

NFL and Team Response

The NFL confirmed it is not investigating Vrabel’s behavior, and Patriots officials have said there are no plans for further comment. Eliot Wolf, the team’s vice president of player personnel, described Vrabel’s involvement in draft preparations as “business as usual.”

Looking Ahead

Vrabel, a three‑time Super Bowl champion as a player, is preparing for his second season as Patriots head coach after leading the team to a 14‑3 record and a Super Bowl appearance last year. He insists his focus remains on football, promising fans and the organization that they will see his strongest resolve moving forward.
