Seattle just made sure one of the biggest names on its Super Bowl-winning defense won’t be hitting free agency anytime soon.
The Seahawks and defensive tackle Leonard Williams agreed on a three-year, $90 million extension, $56 million guaranteed, per ESPN. The deal keeps Williams in Seattle through 2029.

Williams was entering the final season of a three-year, $64.5 million contract he signed in 2024 and was due to become a free agent next offseason.
Instead, he gets a massive raise, pushing his new average salary of $30 million into the top five among interior defensive linemen in the league, tied with Tampa Bay’s Vita Vea and behind only Philadelphia’s Jalen Carter, Dallas’ Quinnen Williams, Tennessee’s Jeffery Simmons and Kansas City’s Chris Jones.
The extension crowns a remarkable stretch for Williams, who was voted the NFL’s best defensive tackle in an offseason poll of league executives, scouts and coaches.
Since the start of the 2024 season, he’s totaled 18 sacks, 25 tackles for loss and 50 quarterback hits in 33 games, including a 92-yard pick-six in 2024 that is the longest interception return for a touchdown by a defensive lineman in NFL history.
He had seven sacks and nine tackles for loss in the regular season last year, and helped guide Seattle’s No. 1 ranked defense through the playoffs to a Super Bowl LX title.
Williams is the latest Seahawk to cash in this offseason after wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, cornerback Devon Witherspoon and linebacker Derick Hall on a growing list of core pieces Seattle has locked up as it heads toward its regular-season opener against New England on September 9, a rematch of the Super Bowl
