The recent tweet on social media by Tyreek Hill has added yet another dimension to the ongoing discourse surrounding the possibility of his return to the NFL.
The eight-time Pro Bowl wide receiver tweeted that he feels himself to be “ready for some cold weather”, which immediately fueled speculations regarding the destination if he makes a comeback.
Hill has been a free agent since he was released by the Miami Dolphins back in February, with his comeback date still remaining unclear due to his recovery from an extensive knee injury.
The tweet by Hill has not gone unnoticed by his former teammate in Miami, Jordan Poyer, who decided to call out Hill’s claims instantly.
I think I’m ready for some cold weather
— Ty Hill (@cheetah) September 30, 2026
Poyer mentioned their January 2024 playoff trip to Kansas City, when Hill liked his appearance under such harsh climatic conditions and then admitted that he did not enjoy it.
“He lying,” said Poyer as quoted by Marca. “He was one of those guys. When we played against the (Kansas City) Chiefs in the playoff game, it was below zero, and he was out there with his shirt off.
“He was that guy. But he was back in the locker room saying, ‘Yeah, I can’t do this.’ I’m excited, I wanna see what he really talking about there, I’mma text him.”
The Chiefs defeated Miami 26-7 in an icy contest at Arrowhead Stadium where the temperature was minus-4 degrees Fahrenheit and the windchill was minus-27. Hill gained notoriety by warming up for this contest without a shirt on.
Although the cold weather trash talk may be fun, Hill’s physical recovery is the real story when it comes to his future prospects.
Hill injured himself with a dislocated knee and multiple torn ligaments, including a torn ACL during the Miami game against the New York Jets in September of 2025.
Hill has made his rehab journey known through his posts on social media, which show the progress he has been making to regain strength and stability. He has come out strongly to acknowledge the seriousness of the injury, saying that at first, his doctors told him that they could not foresee his future.
This has made him be able to think of coming back into the game seriously.
October Target
As per Drew Rosenhaus, the agent of Hill, he mentioned in September that the doctors of Hill have advised him to wait till October before making any move.
This is something that has made many people speculate about various possibilities regarding where he may sign.
Chief Reunion or Green Bay?
The return to Kansas City would be one of the most talked-about options because Hill played six years with the Chiefs, won a Super Bowl ring while with the team, and developed a great rapport with quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots have entered into the discussion after Hill’s winter tweet.
