Defending world champions Argentina have received a double fitness boost ahead of their final historic warm-up exhibition against Iceland at Jordan-Hare Stadium, Yankee Scores reports.
Nico Paz has trained for the first time with Argentina’s national team following his recovery from a knee injury.
The Como player hasn’t been seen on the field since May 10 due to a knee injury that occurred during the friendly match with Colombia at San Lorenzo Stadium.
Paz, 21, is ready to feature against Iceland in the friendly set for Tuesday in Auburn, Alabama.
Both Nahuel Molina and Gonzalo Montiel will return to Lionel Scaloni’s side as they have fully recovered from their respective injuries. Both right-backs participated in Sunday’s training session.
Messi Improves from Muscle Fatigue
Lionel Messi has gradually progressed from muscle fatigue in the left hamstring and could feature against Iceland.
The captain of Argentina witnessed the victory over Honduras in Saturday’s international match held in Jacksonville, Florida.
Messi, 38, has missed all matches since May 25 after suffering an injury in the last game for his club, Inter Miami.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and Leandro Paredes train individually due to their respective injuries.
Martinez and Paredes are expected to be fully fit for Argentina’s opening match in the World Cup against Algeria, according to ESPN.
