One of the most anticipated matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage ended in a 1-1 draw, as Brazil and Morocco faced off at MetLife Stadium, Yankee Scores reports
Morocco Strikes First
Morocco started strong, with Ismael Saibari scoring in the 21st minute. This lead was well-deserved, as the Atlas Lions outplayed Brazil early on, pressing high and limiting Brazil’s creative players, per ESPN
Vinicius Saves the Selecao
Vinícius Júnior equalized in the 32nd minute. He exchanged passes with Bruno Guimarães on the left flank before blasting a right-footed shot past Yassine Bono. This marked his 10th international goal and was a moment of brilliance that rescued Brazil from a tough spot.
Brazil’s coach Carlo Ancelotti mentioned that “nerves” affected his players during their shaky start against Morocco.
FIM DE JOGO.

Ancelotti’s Brazil Still a Work in Progress
Brazil, aiming for its first World Cup title since 2002, went into the tournament with high hopes but appeared unsettled for much of the match.
Morocco took the lead and controlled significant parts of the game, proving they remain a serious contender following their performance in Qatar four years ago.
Both teams earned one point in Group C, which also includes Scotland and Haiti. The draw sets up an interesting fight for qualification in the weeks ahead.
