Chelsea have agreed a deal in principle with Aston Villa for Morgan Rogers. The £117million proposal has been approved and the transfer is being completed.
The signing is a new British transfer record which sees Chelsea win the race for one of the Premier League’s most sought after attackers, beating off stiff competition from clubs like Arsenal in the process.

Rogers was reportedly persuaded to go to Chelsea over Arsenal with reports claiming Xabi Alonso had a role in convincing him Stamford Bridge was the ideal destination.
The 23-year-old has been one of the star players in England for the last two seasons, hitting double figures goals and assists for Villa since his arrival from Middlesbrough in a move worth £15million back in January 2024, according to BBC
His stock has risen since then, culminating in his entrance into the England national team system.
Aston Villa have long maintained that Rogers is not available for sale, having previously placed a value of roughly £100million on him largely to keep bidders at bay.
That position appears to have been overtaken by Chelsea’s bid, which significantly surpasses the number Villa were understood to be after.
Further specifics including personal conditions and structure of the price are set to be confirmed in the following days.
