England players enjoyed a day off on Tuesday following their euphoric victory over Mexico, Yankee Scores reports.
The England boss Thomas Tuchel gave the permission for the players to leave camp and have an offsite family day.
The team had chance to leave their hotel in Prairie Village, near Kansas City, with many of them taking the opportunity to spend time with their loved ones away from their World Cup camp.
The pass from Tuchel went into the evening with many having dinner with their partners before returning to camp for the team’s first training session on Wednesday as they prepare for the World Cup quarter-final against Norway on Saturday, according to BBC Sport.
Monday’s 3-2 win in Mexico City was a performance and result that many have called England’s best World Cup performance since the 1966 final.
But there have been concerns about how mentally and physically taxing the game at the Azteca Stadium – coupled with the four games prior to that victory – has been for the players, given the game was played at high altitude.
Sources have said the team’s last training session before the game against Mexico was more of a walk-through, with Tuchel growing more conscious of saving energy for the later stages of the tournament.
Tuchel hopes that letting his players relax away from the team camp on Tuesday will help to take the pressure off his squad ahead of their meeting with the Norwegians in Miami at the weekend.
