Standing 6-1, the guard made 354 assists (5.4 per game) in the year 2025-26, which was the best for any bench player in the league as well as the record in franchise history for an off-the-bench player. Shead appeared in all 82 games of the regular season, which was a rare feat for one of the 18 players in the NBA.
In seven playoff games (with four starts), he averaged 9 points, 5 assists, and 1.4 steals.
Last season, Shead was the fifth-best in assist-to-turnover ratio in the NBA.
Recently, Toronto Raptors star Kawhi Leonard agreed on a two-year, $115 million contract extension with the franchise plus a player option for the 2028-29 season.
Both sides have maintained consistent dialogue on Leonard’s long-term Raptors future since July, with the two-time Finals MVP expecting to finish his career in Toronto. Leonard, 35, now has a total of three years and $165 million on his Raptors deal.
