If Game 1 was a statement for Boston, Game 2 was a loud response from the City of Brotherly Love. Yankee Scores breaks down the 15-point swing that leveled the series and why the momentum is shifting toward a hostile Friday night in Philly.
The Boston Celtics fell to the Philadelphia 76ers 111-97 in Tuesday night’s Game 2 at TD Garden, evening the first-round series at 1-1.
Perimeter Perfection
Philadelphia shot 19-of-39 from 3-point range after making only four 3s in all of Game 1. VJ Edgecombe (30 points) and Tyrese Maxey (29 points) led the way in the Sixers’ victory.

Jaylen Brown scored a game-high 36 points in a losing effort for Boston. Jayson Tatum came one assist shy of a triple-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds, and nine assists.

3-Point Shooting Was Off
The Celtics struggled from beyond the arc, shooting only 26% with 13 out of 50 attempts from the 3-point line. There is no way any team can win a game when they miss 37 3-pointers. Doing it in the playoffs is a recipe for disaster.
Boston lives and dies by the 3-pointer. Tuesday night’s game demonstrated that when the shots aren’t falling, the Celtics struggle to secure a win.
Tatum is Playoffs ready
Tatum is just under two months removed from returning from his Achilles injury, yet he doesn’t seem to be significantly affected in the playoffs so far. In Game 1, he recorded 25 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, and he lit up the box score once again in Game 2, notching 19 points along with 14 rebounds and nine assists.
Although the Celtics lost, it’s encouraging to see Tatum perform remarkably well in the first two games.
Game 3 in Philly is set for Friday at 7 p.m. ET.
