Stephen A. Smith and Jaylen Brown go at it, following the Boston Celtics’ first-round exit in the Eastern Conference NBA Playoffs. The 76ers eliminated the Celtics from the competition following a 109-100 win in Game 7.
After the loss to the 76ers, Jaylen Brown went live on social media and called the 2025/2026 season “my favorite season”, a statement Stephen A. Smith did not like.
ESPN’s “First Take host, Stephen A. Smith, called out the Celtics guard on Thursday’s episode, urging Brown to be quiet if he was not looking to get traded.
Jaylen Brown on the other hand, took offence smith’s comment. He reported the X post and called out Smith in the caption.
“I’ll ‘be quiet’ / stop streaming if you ‘be quiet’ and retire, let’s give the people what they want,” he wrote.
Stephen A. Smith wasted no time in replying with a comment of his.
“Bro, I got love for you so I’m not going to even go there,” he wrote. “Folks are looking out for you and you don’t even realize it. Here you are making this kind of noise and it hasn’t even been a week since you lost a 3-1 lead.”
Bro, I got love for you so I’m not going to even go there. Folks are looking out for you and you don’t even realize it. On Sunday, Brown went live on social media after the seven-game series. During one of his segments, he accused Joel Embiid of flopping a lot during the series.
For Smith, he did not shy away from calling the Celtics guard out on his comment about the 76ers star’s game.
“I understand where Jaylen Brown is coming from, but here’s why it’s just an awful, awful, awful look for him,” Smith explained. “You’re getting paid over $300 million. You were an MVP candidate. You were up 3-1 in this series. Did you say anything when you were up 3-1?”
