Despite a massive 39-point night from Cade Cunningham, the Pistons crumbled under a 13-0 Cleveland run; Yankee Scores reports.

Cleveland outlasted Detroit in an overtime thrilled on Wednesday night, 117-113. The Cavaliers, who won their first road game of the postseason, now lead the best-of-seven series 3-2.

The Great Escape

Pistons earned a 15-point advantage in the first half and led by nine points at 103-94 with under two minutes left to play. However, Cleveland tied the score at 103-103 courtesy of Evan Mobley’s free throws with 45.2 seconds remaining.

Cavaliers went on a 13-0 run by stifling Pistons for five consecutive minutes between the end of the fourth quarter and the start of the overtime period. The Cavaliers secured a seven-point lead at 113-106 with 2:39 left in overtime just after Mitchell’s decisive three-pointer.

Cade Cunningham, who scored 39 points and dished out nine assists, tied the score at 115-115 via his jumper with 25 seconds left in regulation time.

Harden’s Heroics

Harden sunk one of his free throws, grabbed the rebound off his miss on the second free throw, and completed his three-point play to seal the victory for Cleveland.

Game 6 takes place on Friday night in Cleveland. Cavaliers will get their first opportunity to advance to meet the New York Knicks in the conference finals. If Pistons win, they will play Game 7 on Sunday in Detroit.

This was the Cavaliers’ first road victory of the series and of the postseason campaign.

Pistons had won four consecutive home games ever since the Orlando Magic put them on the ropes in Game 5 of the first round.

Harden also registered eight rebounds and six assists for Cleveland. Max Strus made six triples to tally 20 points, Mobley added 19 points, and Jarrett Allen contributed 16 points and nine boards.

Daniss Jenkins came off the bench in place of the injured Duncan Robinson to register 19 points for Detroit. Tobias Harris was unable to convert 13 of 19 shots but scored 13 points, whereas Jalen Duren was limited to nine points and five rebounds.

Mitchell scored in double figures in the first half for the second successive game but could not duplicate his heroics in Game 4 after turning his right ankle. He exploded in the second half and equaled the NBA playoffs record of 39 points in a half with 43 points in total to lead Cleveland’s comeback in Game 4.
