Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany was taken to hospital on Friday after collapsing at the club’s training ground.
Sky in Germany reports that his condition is stable.
It happened at Bayern’s Säbener Strasse complex, where the 40-year-old was watching a training session involving the club’s reserve team. No detailed medical update or return date has been announced.

He hadn’t been well. Kompany had been dealing with a viral infection in the days before Friday, which reportedly caused pain in his legs and affected his ability to do his usual work. He missed training and the pre-match press conference before Bayern’s Champions League game against Arsenal on Wednesday, when assistant coach Aaron Danks spoke to the media and explained that Kompany had been advised to rest.
“It has affected his legs at times, and he’s felt some pain,” Danks said.
Sporting director Max Eberl added that the club would give Kompany the time required to rest and fully recover.
“Vincent Kompany’s health is our top priority,” Eberl said. “We’ll do everything we can at FC Bayern to make sure he recovers quickly. Vinnie receives all the necessary medical care and support and all the time he needs.
“His coaching team, whom we trust completely, takes over his duties. All of us at FC Bayern wish Vinnie a speedy recovery.”
The German giants will trade tackles with Freiburg on Saturday, and it is uncertain if Kompany will be available. In the meantime, his assistants are expected to fill his shoes until he comes back.
