It has now been confirmed that Aston Villa have reached an agreement to bring Alejandro Garnacho on loan from Chelsea, Yankee Scores reports.
It is a loan deal with a clause for buying him later, which is very easy to fulfill. The deal overall, including the amount of the loan, will be able to meet the valuation of Chelsea.
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea was demanding a figure of £42.6 million for the winger. Garnacho moved to Chelsea from Manchester United for £40 million last year. The Argentina winger did not report himself for preseason practice at Chelsea to allow him to move away.
Xabi Alonso had initially confirmed that the Argentine would leave Chelsea this summer with the new head coach having revealed there is genuine interest in the winger’s services elsewhere.
There was reported interest from across Europe, with Roma and Napoli of Serie A as well as clubs from the Premier League and Saudi Pro League all reportedly keen.
Roma and Napoli were believed to be more interested in a loan with an option to buy, whereas Chelsea were pushing for a permanent sale due to Garnacho’s long-term contract and salary demands.
In his debut season at Stamford Bridge, Garnacho made 43 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing four assists – statistics that fell short of the expectations that accompanied his high-profile move from Old Trafford.
It looks like the writing is on the wall for the winger’s Chelsea career as Alonso is now getting into the groove and reshaping his squad.
