Jannik Sinner successfully defended his Wimbledon men’s singles title, defeating first-time finalist Alexander Zverev 6-7(7) 7-6(2) 6-3 6-4 in a three hour, 46 minute battle on Centre Court.
The world No 1 dropped the first set tiebreak but got his footing to claim his fifth career major with a forehand winner on match point.
It was Sinner’s 10th consecutive win over Zverev and made him the 10th man to defend the Wimbledon championship in the Open Era, according to ATP Tour

The win was a redemption story of sorts. Sinner experienced a surprising second-round exit at Roland Garros in May, losing to Juan Manuel Cerundolo in five sets, and Zverev capitalized on his early exit to win his first major title in Paris.
There was no repetition on the lawns of SW19
Sinner halted Zverev’s ambition to become the first man since 1968 to win a first major and then another at the very following Grand Slam.
Sinner has now won a Tour-leading six championships in 2026 after completing the Career Golden Masters in Rome in May.
Zverev was also magnanimous in defeat, telling Sinner he was the best player in the world during the prize ceremony.
